In case you may have missed the parish mission held at St. Augustine’s parish in Wilcox, SK earlier this week, you may view the recording below.
It was a profound blessing to join the small group gathered in person as well as those online, for this evening of sharing our story of mental health challenges in the whom, how our faith has been a help and support in building resiliency in our personal lives and in our home in the midst of these challenges, and sharing about our Emmaus support ministry.
A parish Mission is a time set apart within the life of a parish where people gather for inspiration and renewal of faith. A Mission can take place in a single evening, over a few days or even several evenings over the course of a week. It is a time for those gathered to encounter the transformative grace of Jesus Christ through the sharing of scripture, prayer, storytelling and reflection.
To my mind, this is the first time that a parish has created a forum like this in our Archdiocese to begin a conversation about mental health needs in our communities. Our Emmaus Support Ministry is always available for these kinds of parish or group events. If you would like to have a conversation about what this might look like for your community, please do not hesitate to contact us at emmausmentalhealth@gmail.com.
Peace and God Bless,
Deacon Eric Gurash
